Net Worth Report (July 2021 Update)

We originally set out to provide just annual Net Worth updates and then eventually started to do quarterly updates.  Now that we have significantly slowed the pace of our posts, I think we will like just pop in once or twice a year simply to let everyone know how we are doing and to keep ourselves honest and looking forward to our ultimate goal of early retirement and/or Financial Independence!

Also, in case you have not come across it, we are part of an active list of bloggers who provide their net worth. The list was previously on Rockstar Finance blog, but The Ultimate List of Blogger Net Worth can now be found on the Caleb Net Worth blog. Unfortunately, it appears that the list is no longer being maintained, it is still fun to see if we can continue to climb the static list and hopefully reach the top one day. :)

According to the list, which was last updated on May 20, 2020, our family was at No. 52 (out of a total of 283 bloggers). And after our previous update in August of 2020, we had jumped up a few spots to No. 38 on the list. And after this post, we continue to move up the static list and stand at No. 22 (albeit static since it hasn't been updated). With my wife now back in the workforce this past year and her hours and paychecks are both steadily growing, we have continued to see significant momentum with the growth in our family's net worth growth past year. I am happy to say that I also just received a long-overdue promotion this past month so that momentum should continue as we look to finish the last few laps of our financial journey and prepare for retirement in about 6 years or less.

As of July 1, 2021, our family net worth was as follows:

Retirement Savings:                    $ 768,763
P2P Lending Account (Prosper):    $    1,936
Dividend Stock Accounts (DSA):
    Wells Fargo:                            $  77,803
    Edward Jones:                         $  26,385
DSA - Surplus Cash:                    $  28,313

College Savings Accounts:            $132,834
Cash and Savings:                        71,572
GRAND TOTAL
$1,107,606
(Increase of $177,176 since August 2020)

Although we do not count it as part of our Net Worth,
it is still nice to know that our Home Equity is:
$879,849*
(Increase of $214,003 since August 2020)

Although we don't consider our home equity as part of our Net Worth, we understand that some people do.  So for those who include home equity in their Net Worth, our family's net worth would be considered: $1,987,455 (An increase of
$391,179 since August 2020). Even during Covid pandemic, our family saw some very impressive gains in the last 11 months. For one, we finally reached the $1 million mark without our home equity! Yay! I can now officially say that we are millionaires. To add to that, with our home equity, we are now inching towards the $2 million mark!

* Although others do consider home equity, and even cars, collections, etc. as part of their net worth, it is our opinion that since these items are not very liquid and the value of these items is highly dependent on what others are willing to pay for them (at the present time), we have decided not to consider these type of assets as part of our family's recognized net worth.

Net Worth Report (July 2020 Update)

Prior to this post, our family is currently sitting at No. 52 (out of a total of 283 bloggers). After this post, since it appears that the numbers were based on our 2016 Net Worth post, we are estimating that we may jump a few spots to roughly No. 39 on the list. After roughly ten years at home caring for our kids, my wife eased back into the workforce this past year. And although she is only working part-time, since we were used to living on just one income and refused to inflate our lifestyle, we are seeing significant momentum with our net worth growth.

As of July 1, 2020, our family net worth was as follows:

Retirement Savings:                      $ 649,461
P2P Lending Accounts:                   $    1,809
Dividend Stock Accounts (DSA):
    Wells Fargo:                              $  46,198
    Edward Jones:                           $  19,143
DSA - Surplus Cash:                      $  27,912
College Savings Accounts:              $  97,350
Cash and Savings:                         $  88,557
GRAND TOTAL
$930,430
(Increase of $85,005 since August 2019)

Although we do not count it as part of our Net Worth,
it is still nice to know that our Home Equity is:
$665,846*
(Increase of $49,390 since August 2019)

Although we don't consider our home equity as part of our Net Worth, we understand that some people do.  So for those who include home equity in their Net Worth, our family's net worth would be considered: $1,596,276 (Increase of $134,395 since August 2019). No doubt that 1.5 million is a pretty awesome figure when you include the home equity but until we can accumulate 7 figures without our home equity, I refuse to consider myself a millionaire. We are certainly getting closer, and if Covid-19 does not derail our current progress, we hope to be there within the upcoming year!

Net Worth (3rd Quarter Update)

Originally, I was only planning to provide annual Net Worth updates.  However, since I am now part of an active list of bloggers who provide their net worth on Rockstar Finance's page - The Ultimate List of Blogger Net Worth, I have decided to start providing quarterly updates.  Providing quarterly updates will allow us to keep our readers more updated with our overall progress towards Financial Independence. It will also allow us to stay accurate and current on the Rockstar Finance's Ultimate List of Blogger Net Worth. ;)

At the end of September 2015 (3rd Quarter), our family net worth is as follows:

Retirement Savings:                      $ 397,677
P2P Lending Accounts:                   $  17,472
Dividend Stock Accounts (DSA):     $   68,529
DSA - Surplus Cash:                      $    7,729
College Savings Accounts:              $  46,643
Cash and Savings:                         $  91,146

GRAND TOTAL
$629,196
(Decrease of $16,044 since 6/31/15)

Although we do not count it as part of our Net Worth,
it is still nice to know that our Home Equity is:
$463,671*
(Increase of $13,583 since 3/31/15)

I think I may have spoke to soon...during the last Net Worth, I said that "we have somehow managed to continue to grow our net worth each and every quarter."  Well, whether it is coincidental or not, the streak has now officially ended.

This past quarter, for the first time since we began tracking our net worth, our family saw in shrink by $16,044.  We had gone from from $645,240 at the end of June (2nd quarter) to $629,196 at the end of September (3rd quarter). Not sure how others did but our family would like to forget about this last quarter and simply look forward to next quarter.  After all, we did have a record quarter in terms of putting new capital to work for us.  In all, we put $10,117 of capital to work for us.  The monies invested is projected to provide $531.35 in forward dividends.  Hoping we see dividends, literally, in future months and net worth reports!!

Although we don't consider our home equity as part of our Net Worth, we understand that some people do.  So to be fully transparent, we would like to report that our home equity did grow $13,583. nevertheless, our Net Worth (with home equity included still decreased by $2,461 from $1,095,328 to $1,092,867.  It's a pretty awesome figure when you include the home equity but until we can accumulate 7 figures without our home equity, I don't consider myself a millionaire.

* NOTE: If you follow us, you know that we do not consider the home equity in our home as part of our net worth. Although others do consider home equity, and even cars, collections, etc. as part of their net worth, it is our opinion that since these items are not very liquid and the value of these items is highly dependent on what others are willing to pay for them (at the present time), we have decided not to consider these type of assets as part of our family's recognized net worth.
