On Tuesday and Wednesday, we purchased a few shares of Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), respectively. And today, with the another decline in the market, a total of 3 additional purchases were made when the stocks reach our limit price. So we took the opportunity to add shares of Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDS-B), National Oilwell Varco, Inc (NOV), and Ensco Plc (ESV) to our family's dividend stocks portfolio.

We realize that there is still a rocky road ahead for energy and oil stocks but we truly believe that oil and gas prices will eventually recover and along with it would be a recovery in these stock prices. As we have seen with banks stocks since the huge collapse with lending industry in 2009, we remain confident that oil stocks will eventually recover. As long term investors, we therefore look at these moments as an opportunity to buy quality companies from out of favor sectors.

So with the recent purchases today, we added another NEW stocks to our family's dividend stocks portfolio. Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDS) now brings our family's dividend stocks portfolio to a total of 36 stock/ETFs. National Oilwell Varco, Inc (NOV) and Ensco Plc (ESV) were companies we had already previously owned.

With the purchases mentioned above, our estimated forward dividends grew another $68.40 and now stands at approximately $3,223/year in dividends.

RECENT BUYS (NYSE: NOV & ESV)

WE RECENTLY PURCHASED THE FOLLOWING

National Oilwell Varco Inc (NOV)
Purchased 9 shares of NOV on 12/1/2014 at $65.00
Total Spent: $585.00
$16.56 added to annual dividends

Ensco Plc (ESV)
Purchased 10 shares of ESV on 12/1/14 at $33.00
Total Spent: $330.00
$30.00 added to annual dividends

With oil prices at current lows, oil related stocks are currently on sale. In addition, both NOV and ESV hit their 52-week low today. Moreover, unless these go the route of SDRL with the suspension of their dividends, this purchase would qualify for the upcoming dividend payment as they come just days before the Ex-Dividend date. Even with all these reasons, we still consider these purchases as being higher than normal risk because of the unpredictability of oil prices, and the dividends associates with these stocks at the moment. Nevertheless, we think oil prices will eventually recover as well as the prices of these stocks and we are hoping that at these levels, we will be able to capitalize on that future growth.

We already own ESV, but NOV was a new addition to our family's dividend portfolio. With today's purchase, our family's dividend stocks portfolio currently has a total of 32 dividend paying companies that pay us just a little over $2,858/year in dividends (excluding Edward Jones Account). We do, however, expect that some of the dividends related to oil stocks may be reduced (and possibly even suspended) given their high yields.

ESV was a company I had already owned. I originally purchased 10 shares of ESV in May of this year. The recent purchases brought my total shares in ESV to 20 shares (or $60.00 in annual dividends total).

My recent purchases in RIG were new holdings for our family's dividend stocks portfolio.
