Collection of RECENT BUYS (Summary) - July 2015

Since I began investing in dividend stocks approximately two years ago I've been keeping a personal log of what other dividend bloggers and dividend investors are buying.  Until now, I've just done it for my own personal knowledge and it has proven to be a great resource I use when I have no idea what I should buy.

The collection essentially highlights the Recent Buys I have discovered throughout the dividend blog community. I always like to see what others are buying.  And with this collection, one can easily see all the buys in one centralized source. I Hope everyone has found it to be a great resource!

In case you just want a quick summary of what everyone has been buying this past month, below is a chart that depicts just that! :)
(The chart and table above only includes companies with more than 3 buys)

The buying activity around the DGI community continued its momentum throughout the month of July. Although I believe the growing number of buys is somewhat related to my continued efforts to provide a more complete list, another record was set this past month for the highest number of buys logged by the DGI community in a single month. In all, a total of 94 buys were found throughout the month of July.

Once again, since there were so many buys logged, we have only charted those companies with 3 or more buys (we originally charted companies with 2 or more buys).

To summarize, out of a total of 94 buys found around the DGI community, a total of 53 companies were purchased, with 23 companies bought more than once.
  1. The most popular company this past month was Emerson Electric (EMR)which was purchased by 6 different investors throughout the DGI community.
  2. In second place was Chevron Corp (CVX), which was purchased by 5 different investors throughout the DGI community.
  3. Third place was a tie between Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD), Caterpiller Inc (CAT), Wal-Mart Stares (WMT) and Omega Health Care Investor Inc (OHI) with a total of 4 buys.
The following companies each had 3 buys (3 total)

  • Union Pacific (UNP), 3M (MMM), Kinder Morgan Inc (KMI).

And although not included in the chart, the following companies each had 2 buys (14 total)

  • T.Rowe Price (TROW), Qualcomm Inc (QCOM),  Oneok Inc (OKE), National Oilwell Varco (NOV), Norfolk Southern (NSC), Realty Income Corp (O), Dover Corp (DOV), Ventas, Inc (VTR), Inter Pipeline Ltd (IPL), Royal Bank of Canda (RY), Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CM), Bank of Montreal (BMC), International Business Machine (IBM), Target Corp (TGT).
I am happy and thankful to report that our family remained active during the continued buying frenzy this past month.  During the month of July, we picked up shares in CVX, EMR, UNP, MMM, and TD for our family's dividend stocks portfolio.  Can't wait til the forward dividends from our recent buys show up in future dividend income reports!!

It could become a place where one can get ideas on what to invest in next, to establish a desired stock purchase price, or simply to see what your favorite bloggers are buying.  Whatever your reason, my hope is that this collection proves to be a great reference tool and helps provide you that little extra advantage that you are looking for in order to succeed with your investing.

Collection of RECENT BUYS (Summary) - June 2015

Since I began investing in dividend stocks approximately two years ago I've been keeping a personal log of what other dividend bloggers and dividend investors are buying.  Until now, I've just done it for my own personal knowledge and it has proven to be a great resource I use when I have no idea what I should buy.

The collection essentially highlights the Recent Buys I have discovered throughout the dividend blog community. I always like to see what others are buying.  And with this collection, one can easily see all the buys in one centralized source.  In November of 2014, I started making my collection of Recent Buys available on my blog for everyone. I Hope everyone has found it to be a great resource!

In case you just want a quick summary of what everyone has been buying this past month, below is a chart that depicts just that! :)
(The chart and table above only includes companies with more than 3 buys)

With Greece back in the news, the buying activity certainly picked up once again around the DGI community. In fact, since we've started to blog our Collection of Recent Buys, June saw the highest number of buys ever found throughout the DGI community in a single month.  In all, a total of 73 buys were found throughout the month of June.  In fact, since there were so many buys logged this past month, we decided to only chart those companies with more than 3 buys.  In past months, we had previously included all companies with 2 or more buys.

To summarize, out of a total of 73 buys found around the DGI community, a total of 42 companies were purchased, with 15 companies bought more than once.

  1. The most popular company this past month (and for the second consecutive month) was: Union Pacific Corp (UNP)which was purchased by 6 different investors throughout the DGI community.
  2. In second place was W.P. Carey Inc (WPC), which was purchased by 5 different investors throughout the DGI community.
  3. Third place was a tie between Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) and Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM) with a total of 4 buys.

The following companies each had 3 buys (5 total)

  • Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD), Travelers Company (TRV), Coca Cola Company (KO), Ventas, Inc (VTR), Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS).

And although not included in the chart, the following companies each had 2 buys (6 total)

  • T.Rowe Price (TROW), Omega Healthcare Investors Inc (OHI),  Baxter International Inc (BAX), HCP Inc (HCP), Wal-Mart Stores (WMT), Oneok Inc (OKE).

We are happy to say, our family was certainly active during the recent buying frenzy this past month.  During the month of June, we picked up shares in XOM, OHI, WMT, OKS, and VZ for our family's dividend stocks portfolio.  After two straight months of light stock buying activity, we are thankful to see this month's turnaround. Hopefully, the market continues to react to Greece news and provide us long term investors with more opportunities to buy quality stocks on sale!!

Collection of RECENT BUYS (Summary) - May 2015

Since I began investing in dividend stocks approximately a year and a half ago I've been keeping a personal log of what other dividend bloggers and dividend investors are buying.  Until now, I've just done it for my own personal knowledge and it has proven to be a great resource I use when I have no idea what I should buy.

In case you just want a quick summary of what everyone has been buying this past month, below is a chart that depicts just that! :)
(The chart and table above only includes companies with more than 1 buy)

The buying activity picked up once again around the DGI community. In May, our Collection of Recent Buys logged in a total of 56 buys throughout the month (compared to 47 in April and 62 in March).

Out of a total of 56 buys found around the DGI community, a total of 38 companies were purchased, with 10 companies bought more than once.  There was a tie for 1st between two great companies: Union Pacific Corp (UNP) and Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) were both purchased by 5 different investors throughout the DGI community.  There was also a tie for 2nd place between Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) and W.P. Carey Inc (WPC).  And rounding off 3rd (in no particular order), we saw a 6-way tie between HCP Inc (HCP),  Norfolk Southern Corp (NSC), Disney Corp (DIS), Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS), Chevron Corp (CVX), Apple Inc (APPL)

Once again, our family was less active adding capital to our family's dividend stocks portfolio this past month.  We did, however, still managed to purchase a few shares in one of the 3rd most popular stock HCP Inc (HCP) on May 29th.  Once again, work and life got the best of us this past month.  Hopefully, June provides our family with more free time as well as buying opportunities!  The good news is we have a nice little pile of cash sitting around since we've been last active for two consecutive months now.

Collection of RECENT BUYS (Summary) - April 2015

(The chart and table above only includes companies with more than 1 buy)

April wasn't the buying frenzy that March was but it was still a pretty active buying month around the DGI community.  Throughout the month of April, we found a total of 47 buys (compared to the 62 buys found last month).

Out of a total of 47 buys found around the DGI community, a total of 8 companies were bought more than once.  Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) was the clear winner with a total of 7 buys this past month.  Tied for second was Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) and T.Row Price Group, Inc (TROW) with 4 buys a piece. Rounding third was Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) with a total of 3 buys.  And there was a 4-way tie for fourth between HCP, Inc. (HCP), National Oilwell Varco (NOV), Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI), and Phillip Morris Int'l (PM).

Our family was less active adding capital to our family's dividend stocks portfolio this past month.  We did, however, still managed to purchase a few shares of the 3rd most popular stock Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) on April 22nd.  I know its not a great excuse but both work and life got the best of us this past month.  Hopefully, May provides our family with more free time as well as buying opportunities!

Collection of RECENT BUYS (Summary) - March 2015

Since I began investing in dividend stocks approximately a year and a half ago I've been keeping a personal log of what other dividend bloggers and dividend investors are buying.  Until now, I've just done it for my own personal knowledge and it has proven to be a great resource I use when I have no idea what I should buy.

In case you just want a quick summary of what everyone has been buying this past month, below is a chart that depicts just that! :)
(The chart and table above only includes companies with more than 1 buy)

After a month where I only found 24 buys around the dividend blogging community, the month of March definitely saw a spike in activity.  In March, even though we probably missed a few buys while on our mini-vacation, we recorded a total of 62 buys this past month from fellow dividend bloggers.

Out of a total of 62 buys found around the dividend blogging community, 9 companies were bought more than once.  It appears that oil and energy is still leading the way in terms of overall purchases but the 9 companies that were purchased more than once came from multiple sectors.  Phillip Morris International Inc (PM) lead the way with a total of 7 buys, followed by Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.B) with a total of 6 buys, and National Oilwell Varco (NOV) rounded up third place.  There was a 2-way tie for fourth (T and TROW) and a 4-way tie for fifth (XOM, COP, JNJ, and OHI).

Our family made a total of 7 buys this past month. Of the 7 purchases, 5 were stocks in companies that made the list above (PM, RDS.B, NOV, JNJ, XOM).  I have to admit that I prefer to follow the masses when it comes to investing.  To me, it certainly helps validate the buy when you see others buying the same stock. When thinking independently, odds are generally higher for one person to be wrong than several individuals, right?

In case you just want a quick summary of what everyone has been buying this past month, below is a chart that depicts just that! :)

(The chart and table above only includes companies with more than 1 buy)

The buying activity this past month seemed to have declined a bit.  Maybe it was because February is a short month or maybe it was because in the months prior it seemed like everyone was on a bit of a buying spree.  Whatever the reason, it looks like oil and energy stocks seemed to be losing a little bit of its luster as we saw people buying across all sectors of the market again this past month.

Out of a total of 24 buys found around the dividend blogging community, only 5 companies were bought by more than once.  Health care lead the way this past month with Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) and Baxter International (BAX) leading the way, followed by a three-way tie for the third with TD, NOV, EMR each with 2 buys a piece.  We have a limit order open for JNJ but the price has continued to rise since.  We are hoping that March provides a little dip so that we can initiate shares in Johnson and Johnson (JNJ).

(The chart and table above only includes companies with more than 1 buy)

This past month saw people buying a little of everything.  Unlike the last few months where we saw oil and energy stocks dominating the buys, we saw people buying across all sectors of the market.  Out of a total of 32 buys found around the dividend blogging community, only 7 companies were bought by more than once.  The most popular stock this past month was Toronto Dominion Bank (TD), followed by Unilever (UL).  There was a five-way tie for the third most popular purchase.

As you can see, the clear winner were oil and energy company stocks.  With the market making a little surge towards the end of the year and the Dow Jones now above 18,000, value is become just a bit harder to find again (outside of oil and energy stocks).
