Here is the recent update to our dividend stocks portfolio – May 2016.

SALES 

During the last two months, we have been selling shares from our family's dividend stocks portfolio in an effort to take some profits off the table.  We felt that the market has had a nice rebound since the slow start to the year and before it decides to give some of gains back we thought we'd cash out some profits. In all, a total of 2 sell orders were executed. Below are the actual executed sales transactions (no commission was charged since we get 100 free trades per year):

05/10/16 - PM (Phillip Morris Int'l Inc) 4 shares/$100.88

• SUMMARY OF SALES:
• Original cost basis: $833.32
• Total value of all sales: $1,064.32*
• Net Profit: $231.00 (27.7% gain)

* All sales were stocks owned for more than 1-year to the gains will be taxed at capital gains rate.

Unfortunately, the recent sells did impact our annual dividends. Overall, our 2 stock sells this past month decreased our annual dividends by: $42.57  No regrets as I plan to re-invest the proceeds into more dividend paying stocks. The goal is to find ones at better values than the ones we sold.  

PURCHASES

It has been since early February, but we are happy to report that we finally made a purchase for our family's dividend stocks portfolio. Below is our actual purchase but you can also find additional details from our recent post from May 29th.

This past month, we continued to sell shares of a few more companies from our family's dividend stocks portfolio.  We feel that the market has had a nice rebound since the slow start to the year and before it decides to give some of gains back we though we'd cash out some profits. Although it was nice to take some profits off the table; unfortunately, the recent sells did impact our annual dividends. Overall, our 12 stock sells decreased our annual dividends by: $173.61  No regrets as I plan to re-invest the over $5K in proceeds into more dividend paying stocks.  The goal is to find ones at better values than the ones we sold.  We are now sitting more cash than I would like idle so hopefully we can put it to use this coming month. :)
   

PURCHASES

Once again, we didn't make any buys for our family's dividend stocks portfolio. We started the year off on a strong note but have not made a single purchase since January.  For now, we've decided to stock pile cash and wait for the next pull back.  Let's hope it happens soon because it not easy to see your money remain idle for months. :)

SALES 

It has been a while since we have sold any shares from our dividend stocks portfolio. But this past month, with the recovery we've seen since late February, we decided to sell a few shares of a company from our family's dividend stocks portfolio. Unfortunately, the recent sell does impact our annual dividends.

PURCHASES

After logging in a total of 12 buys for a total of $4,500.64 in January, we didn't make any buys for our family's dividend stocks portfolio for the second straight month. We started the year off on a strong note. But with the recover we've seen for approximately 5-7 weeks now, we've decided to stock pile cash and wait for the next pull back. We will be more than ready, if or, when the next pull back occurs. I'm reading a few articles that the upcoming earnings could be that opportunity I've been waiting for.  Let's hope so because it not easy to see your money remain idle for months. :)

Glad to be reporting that this past month we did not sell off any shares from our family's dividend stock portfolio.  And since we did not sell any shares throughout the month of February, that also means that our annual dividends did not decrease either.

PURCHASES

In January, we logged in a total of 12 buys and spent a total of $4,500.64 on new acquisitions for our family's dividend stocks portfolio. Those purchases had increased our forward dividends another $187.40. We started the year off on a strong note!!  

Unfortunately, we somehow managed to lose all of our momentum and ended the month of February without a single buy. Hopefully, we can we turn things back around in the month of March.
