Collection of RECENT BUYS (September 2016 Summary)

Since I began investing in dividend stocks approximately two years ago I've been keeping a personal log of what other dividend bloggers and dividend investors are buying.  Until now, I've just done it for my own personal knowledge and it has proven to be a great resource I use when I have no idea what I should buy.

The collection essentially highlights the Recent Buys I have discovered throughout the dividend blog community. I always like to see what others are buying.  And with this collection, one can easily see all the buys in one centralized source. I Hope everyone has found it to be a great resource!

In case you just want a quick summary of what everyone has been buying this past month, below is a chart that depicts just that! :)

During the month of September a total of 74 buys were found throughout the DGI community. Although we logged in more buys this past month compared to the month of August, it appears that we are seeing more investors selling recently. With the Dow Jones seemingly content hovering just above 18,000, and the upcoming presidential election in November, it appears that many DGI investors are looking to cash in some profits and sit on the sidelines to watch the election results and how it will impact the markets.

Below is a chart that shows those companies that were purchased more than once this past month.
To summarize the past month, out of a total of 74 buys found around the DGI community, a total of 49 companies were purchased with a total of only 11 companies that were bought more than once.  From the buys collected,  DGI investors picked up a stock not purchased by others 66.2% of the time. Once again, there are many companies bought buy DGI investors that I was not familiar with. It just shows that DGI are digging deep to find the better deals. I love seeing the diversity, and especially the lesser known names!!

Both Flower Foods (FLO) and The Walt Disney Company (DIS) continued their momentum from last month and, as a result, was the most popular stocks this past month. Both companies were purchased by 6 different investors throughout the DGI community. We were also part of the 6 buys. On September 9th, our family purchased 33 shares of FLO at $14.63.

The second most popular stock this past month was T.Row Price Group, Inc. (TROW). TROW was purchased by 4 different investors throughout the DGI community.
There was a three way tie for the third most popular this past month, as   The Coca Cola Company (KO)Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS), Gilead Sciences,  Inc. (GILD), were all purchased by 3 different investors throughout the DGI communityWe were part of the 3 buys. On September 9th, our family purchased 8 shares of GILD at $78.53.

And although not included in the chart, there were a total of 5 companies with 2 buys:
  1. Target Corp (TGT)
  2. Xcel Energy (XEL)
  3. Wells Fargo Corp (WFC)
  4. General Mills Inc (GIS)
  5. V.F. Corp (VFC)

Data used for this SUMMARY is from our

What have you been buying?  Please feel free to share in the comments or send me a link to your Recent Buy post in case I happened to have missed it.

If you have a chance, make sure you also take a look at my COLLECTION OF STOCK ANALYSES!! As with my collection of recent buys, my goal is to make this collection also become a centralized source for everyone. It could become a place where one can get ideas on what to invest in next, to establish a desired stock purchase price, or simply to see what your favorite blogger is buying.  Whatever your reason, my hope is that this collection proves to be a great reference tool and helps provide you that little extra advantage that you are looking for in order to succeed with your investing.

Also, if you have a chance, make sure you also follow or visit Adam over at I Want to Retire Soon (IWTRS) as he provides a weekly summary of recent buys! A link to past summaries is maintained on his blog. Another great resource for ideas if you are not sure where to invest next!

  2. Interesting to see FLO still being so popular after all these weeks. That's a name that I see consistently coming up. Always love these summaries and trends of what people are buying.

    1. FLO certainly has been popular among DGI investors. I think it continued its momentum from last month because the stock price has been hovering around the $15 mark. We bought under $15 and feel it's a great value at that price point.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you in a month for the October summary, if not sooner. ;)

  3. Hi AFFJ! Great summary as usual. I am a bit surprised to see KO up there although it has pulled back a bit in the past month. I guess its always one of those "safe" buys that you can probably hold forever. Thanks for the summary! Take care,

  4. Hi AFFJ, How do you manage to do this many small transactions, won't the transaction cost eat into the returns. Do you have free trade plan or something that make this an option. Thanks

    1. Richard - coincidentally, I do have an investment account where I do get 100 free trades per year. But this report is a summary of the recent buys found throughout the DGI investment community. Our family only made two purchases this past month: FLO and GILD.

      Thanks for visiting. AFFJ
