Collection of RECENT BUYS (Summary) - May 2015

Since I began investing in dividend stocks approximately a year and a half ago I've been keeping a personal log of what other dividend bloggers and dividend investors are buying.  Until now, I've just done it for my own personal knowledge and it has proven to be a great resource I use when I have no idea what I should buy.

The collection essentially highlights the Recent Buys I have discovered throughout the dividend blog community. I always like to see what others are buying.  And with this collection, one can easily see all the buys in one centralized source.  In November of 2014, I started making my collection of Recent Buys available on my blog for everyone. I Hope everyone has found it to be a great resource!

In case you just want a quick summary of what everyone has been buying this past month, below is a chart that depicts just that! :)
(The chart and table above only includes companies with more than 1 buy)

The buying activity picked up once again around the DGI community. In May, our Collection of Recent Buys logged in a total of 56 buys throughout the month (compared to 47 in April and 62 in March).

Out of a total of 56 buys found around the DGI community, a total of 38 companies were purchased, with 10 companies bought more than once.  There was a tie for 1st between two great companies: Union Pacific Corp (UNP) and Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) were both purchased by 5 different investors throughout the DGI community.  There was also a tie for 2nd place between Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) and W.P. Carey Inc (WPC).  And rounding off 3rd (in no particular order), we saw a 6-way tie between HCP Inc (HCP),  Norfolk Southern Corp (NSC), Disney Corp (DIS), Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS), Chevron Corp (CVX), Apple Inc (APPL)

Once again, our family was less active adding capital to our family's dividend stocks portfolio this past month.  We did, however, still managed to purchase a few shares in one of the 3rd most popular stock HCP Inc (HCP) on May 29th.  Once again, work and life got the best of us this past month.  Hopefully, June provides our family with more free time as well as buying opportunities!  The good news is we have a nice little pile of cash sitting around since we've been last active for two consecutive months now.

What have you been buying?  Please feel free to share in the comments or send me a link to your Recent Buy post in case I've missed it.

Don't forget to bookmark or add this page to your favorites!!

As with my collection of stock analyses, my goal is to make this collection also become a centralized source for everyone. It could become a place where one can get ideas on what to invest in next, to establish a desired stock purchase price, or simply to see what your favorite bloggers are buying.  Whatever your reason, my hope is that this collection proves to be a great reference tool and helps provide you that little extra advantage that you are looking for in order to succeed with your investing.

  1. AFFJ,

Thank you for sharing these lists. It is interesting to see what everyone is buying at any given time. We will be looking to add some more HCP as well, nice pickup. And we added some more UNP as well in May and are looking at that name if it falls below $100. Look forward to seeing you put that capital to with this month should the market cooperate. Thanks again for sharing as we know this is quite a bit to track and maintain.

    All the best.

    1. You're welcome Forward Dividends. Thanks for stopping by. Glad to hear we are fellow shareholders in HCP. It didn't come in 1st or 2nd this past month, but certainly a great buy nevertheless.

As for UNP, it has been a popular stock lately. Tied for first in May and already in the lead with two days into June. I would love to get into UNP if it falls below $100. We will be watching the stock carefully and may just be one of the stocks we pick up in June.

      Take Care, AFFJ

  2. Thanks for compiling this information. Always nice to see what others are buying and how certain stocks move in and out of popularity over the months. I just made a buy for baby DivHut initiating two positions in his custodial account, JNJ and EMR.

Would it be worthwhile to show your list of blogs from which this data has come?

    1. Adam - agreed. Personally, I like to view the collection and monthly results to get ideas on where I may want to invest next. As always, you must still do your homework before pulling the trigger on any stock you purchase.

I actually provide a link to the everyone's recent buy post directly in the Collection of Recent Buy tables. The link is the very last field. The links can sometimes be the extra research one might need as many of the bloggers here provided a lot of background to their Recent Buys.

Thanks for your thoughts. Best wishes on your personal journey! AFFJ

  5. AFFJ, this is a good resource. It shows you the trends and thinking of the community. I will use this in conjunction with my screens (which is based on the CCC list) for my monthly research for buying opportunities.

    1. Thanks for the compliment. It is a collection that I use to keep for myself and just thought I'd share with the DGI community. After all, my parents did teach us that sharing is caring, right? ;)

I also use the CCC list, definitely another go to resource! Thanks for stopping by and for leaving your comments. Best wishes! AFFJ
