Just thought we'd try something new for our next stock purchase. We have four stocks that are at the top of our watch list but cannot seem to make up our minds on which one we like better. So my wife came up with the idea of asking fellow bloggers and our readers what they thought we should buy.
So here I am reaching out to anyone who is willing to spend a few minutes to vote for one stock from this group that you would consider buying in the upcoming week. Please briefly tell us why you like the stock that you picked.
If all goes well, I hope to post results of the voting as well as our stock purchase a week from today. Thanks in advance for your contribution!

**LET US KNOW WHICH STOCK YOU WOULD PICK AND WHY**
AFFJ,
ReplyDeleteSince I have been buying both XOM and BBL recently, I would narrow it down to those two. If forced to pick one it would be BBL.
MDP
Thanks for the input MDP - I'll post result in the upcoming week. AFFJ
DeleteIts a tough question...they are all great companies. I own BNS from the list and think its the stock to own. Its one of teh best run banks in the world - most international Canadian bank and not many companies come close to that 182 years streak of paying dividends.
ReplyDeleteSecond choice by me would be XOM.
Thanks R2R - I'll post results in the upcoming week. AFFJ
DeleteAFFJ,
ReplyDeleteTough call. I think they're all very solid choices right now. It's like picking between great and greater.
If I had to pick out the best value, it would probably be BBL. If portfolio diversification across the four doesn't matter at all and you can buy any of them with no issue, I would probably pick that one. I just bought some last month and I'm thinking about buying more soon if it stays here.
Happy shopping. :)
Best regards!
Thanks for voting Jason - I'll be posting result in the upcoming week. Hopefully along with a Recent Buy post! :)
DeleteSince I just bought BBL, I'd be crazy and say that wasn't the best one, right? Haha, in all seriousness, I'd go with BBL. The way the market has priced them its as if the 2015 demerger has already happen (it hasn't), so there is a ton of opportunity there. If that one wasn't compelling enough, it actually has a 4.62% or so yield, not 4.26% (transposition maybe).
ReplyDeleteAfter BBL, I'd go XOM, BNS, then UL (even though I've been loading on UL in my Loyal3 account - no fees/last dregs of credit card usage make it a worthwhile proposition).
Best of luck with the poll and the choice!
W2R - thanks for voting. We also own BBL and wouldn't mind adding to our holdings. It's a tough decision and that's why we though to ask for help...not to mention we think it would be a fun and interactive post. :)
DeleteAll great choices AFFJ! I've been buying UL and XOM, so I would narrow it down to those two. Between the two, I would have to go with XOM, as oil prices are severely depressed. However, I think it will bounce back and ultimately so will XOM. BBL would be my third choice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your vote Special Agent.
ReplyDeleteThe current tally is: BBL-3; UL-0 , XOM- 1,BNS-1.
Hoping to here from others...please take a minute and leave your vote.
Thanks everyone! AFFJ
I just pulled trigger on BNS today simply because it's easier for my to execute purchase with Canadian stocks. With BBL, UL and XOM I prefer to buy in the RRSP account and right now I have no capitals in that account. If I were you I'd go with BBL and UL.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your vote. BBL dropped today and is near their 52-week low. Looking VERY attractive and might just be the one we pick. Thanks. AFFJ
DeleteUL is the safest choice. The others may experience further declines. I just bought UL as well. All great picks and its a tough one to pick from.
ReplyDeleteI agree Mongrel, tough choice to make. I'm hoping through input from our awesome blogging community that the choice will become easier. :)
DeleteThanks for your vote. AFFJ
I would choose UL
ReplyDeleteThanks for your reply.
DeleteThe current tally is: BBL-4; UL-2 , XOM- 1,BNS-1.
Keep the responses coming everyone! AFFJ
My choice : BBL
ReplyDeleteSolid EPS and BV growth.
My fair value for this one: $69.27 (36% upside)
Thank you Trader...It looks like BBL might be pulling away from the pack. :) AFFJ
DeleteI would choose BBL. Great long term play. China is slowing down and dragging BBL down....but the dragon can be held down for only so long
ReplyDeleteI think you are in good company with your choice as BBL is so far the leader with 6 votes, UL has 2, XOM has 1, and BNS has 1. Thanks for voting. AFFJ
DeleteWell, the only one I don't like in valuation is UL. BNS is okay, but I think BBL and XOM are the best choices about now. Just because, make my vote XOM, since I"ll be buying it in the next month or two.
ReplyDeleteCurrently Tally: BBL-6; UL-2 , XOM- 2,BNS-1.
DeleteKeep your votes coming! :)
Count my vote for BBL. After another down day today, it is at 5%!
ReplyDeleteIll have to check, but I think this the highest entry yield that BBL has ever offered. I wil buying more.
Thanks for voting Accumulating Assets...I agree that it looks very attractive at current prices. I will continue to keep track if more votes come in but I think it is safe to say the BBL is the winner (at this moment) out of these four companies. AFFJ
DeleteMy vote is for BBL and recently bought it also. Next would be UL, XOM and BNS in that order. Keep up the progress!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes.
PIM
PIM - great choice, we ending up going with BBL as the majority had suggested. We may continue to add to our holding if the price continues to remain at their current prices. AFFJ
