  1. Interesting buy with OXY. While many are already heavy in the energy space, OXY is a name that doesn't come up often. Curious to know why you decided to go with this name rather than other more common names in the space.

    1. DivHut - Aside from the fact that we already own OXY and saw it as an opportunity to average down our cost basis, we like OXY because it doesn't carry much debt (with a debt-to-equity of .20) and because of their their commitment to invest in the Permian Basin where they can achieve higher production at lower costs.

      Thanks for stopping by. AFFJ

  2. Ditto DivHut 's comment. Interesting choice. Not on my watch list - though I am aware of this company due to its presence in Texas.
I need to check on this.

    1. D4S - Do I think that OXY is the best buy in this sector? probably not. I do think they are positioning themselves well to ensure they generate positive returns, even in a low oil price environment. Their commitment to invest in the Permian Basin is a prime example of that. Additionally, we believe they maintain a favorable debt-to-equity ratio. And lastly, being current shareholders did have some part to our decision to buy more shares.
