The collection essentially highlights the Recent Buys I have discovered throughout the dividend blog community. I always like to see what others are buying. And with this collection, one can easily see all the buys in one centralized source. In November of 2014, I started making my collection of Recent Buys available on my blog for everyone. I Hope everyone has found it to be a great resource!
In case you just want a quick summary of what everyone has been buying this past month, below is a chart that depicts just that! :)
(The chart and table above only includes companies with more than 1 buy)
April wasn't the buying frenzy that March was but it was still a pretty active buying month around the DGI community. Throughout the month of April, we found a total of 47 buys (compared to the 62 buys found last month).
Out of a total of 47 buys found around the DGI community, a total of 8 companies were bought more than once. Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) was the clear winner with a total of 7 buys this past month. Tied for second was Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) and T.Row Price Group, Inc (TROW) with 4 buys a piece. Rounding third was Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) with a total of 3 buys. And there was a 4-way tie for fourth between HCP, Inc. (HCP), National Oilwell Varco (NOV), Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI), and Phillip Morris Int'l (PM).
Our family was less active adding capital to our family's dividend stocks portfolio this past month. We did, however, still managed to purchase a few shares of the 3rd most popular stock Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) on April 22nd. I know its not a great excuse but both work and life got the best of us this past month. Hopefully, May provides our family with more free time as well as buying opportunities!
What have you been buying? Please feel free to share in the comments or send me a link to your Recent Buy post in case I've missed it.
Don't forget to bookmark or add this page to your favorites!!
As with my collection of stock analyses, my goal is to make this collection also become a centralized source for everyone. It could become a place where one can get ideas on what to invest in next, to establish a desired stock purchase price, or simply to see what your favorite bloggers are buying. Whatever your reason, my hope is that this collection proves to be a great reference tool and helps provide you that little extra advantage that you are looking for in order to succeed with your investing.
Thanks again for maintaining this list. I think its a valuable resource to see what others are up to. JNJ is almost always an excellent pick.
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome JC. Glad it appears to be well-liked!
DeleteAnd yes, JNJ is almost always a good pick but it certainly has given investors a few buying opportunities under $100 lately. :)
AFFJ
Thanks for putting this together. Great resource, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteR2R
You're welcome R2R. Thanks for providing a link to both of our collections on your weekly Chatter Around The World posts. You're continued support is greatly appreciated and I certainly try to return the favor any chance I get. :)
DeleteHope you have a great weekend. AFFJ
Thanks again for the update, it looks like a wasn't alone in my purchase on JNJ last month. Good to see some others had the same idea.
ReplyDeleteThe pleasure is all mine Captain Dividend. Glad to see the community values the collection and summaries.
DeleteAnd yes, you were certainly not alone in your purchase of JNJ this past month. But I really don't blame you...there has been many opportunities to pick up shares under $100.
Best wishes and continued success! AFFJ
I'm gonna say it again, I love this list!. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dividend Dream for the feedback. Really glad you love it. It is a lot of work maintaining the list and keeping it as current as possible but certainly rewarding and worth the effort when we hear and see that people out there enjoy and value the posts.
DeleteThanks for visiting and for your comment. AFFJ
I almost buy JNJ but decided to buy OHI for REIT exposure and health care exposure with much better yield and good valuation. JNJ remains on my watchlist. Its always nice to see what our fellow investors are buying and thank you!
ReplyDeleteI agree FFF, I actually enjoy writing these summaries because the results are just as interesting to me. We gather the Recent Buy Posts all month but unless we are setting a buy order, we really don't look at the collection (as a whole) until the end of the month.
DeleteThanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great weekend. AFFJ
AFFJ,
ReplyDeleteLooks like I fell in line with buying JNJ, valuation and the DGR were great. I have seen quite a few buying them, TROW, NOV and PM. Nice summary, I do like it when you come out with this article. All about consistent purchasing in the end!
-Lanny
Yes, your purchase of JNJ is part of the stats. :) We have TROW, NOV, and PM on our watch list and have considered buying more of NOV and PM during the recent dips.
DeleteGlad you enjoy reading the summary posts. Keep adding to that dividend income stream (consistently)! :) AFFJ
If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, I actually really like seeing the companies that only one blogger bought. Honestly, it gets kind of boring seeing that everyone bought companies A and B, when companies C, D, and E don't get as much "coverage" but are equally interesting buys. Maybe not add them to the graph, but just provide a list of every ticker purchases, even if only one person bought into the company?
ReplyDeleteAnd a minor quibble, my PCP and AAPL purchases were done on 5/1, not 4/29 :)
Dividend Developer - thanks for the feedback. Good or bad, right or wrong, know that I do appreciate everyone's comments. With that said, I think I already do provide what you are suggesting (the ticker purchases). I actually do that throughout the month in our Collection of Recent Buys. The collection is a play by play collection of the buys throughout the month by various DGI investors.
DeleteThis post is actually just a quick summary of the entire list. I do these summaries once a month at the end of the month. As for the Collection of Recent Buys, I try to update and maintain the collection as frequently as I can.
Thanks for letting us know about the incorrect purchase date for PCP and AAPL. I'll make sure we update the list accordingly.
Thanks for stopping by. AFFJ
I have a hard time sticking to just dividend stocks myself. I definitely go after some growth stocks from time to time. Only recently have I been switching to dividend stocks, but that was more because I feel like the market is very frothy and could pull back so putting new money into less volatile assets seems like a good way to go. That being said, my last purchase was Microsoft (luckily right before they announced earnings)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you that some of the large cap dividend stocks should offer you with great protection from an inevitable pull back. Not sure when, or if it will even be this year, but owning the bigger companies from the income category (rather than growth) should help you weather the storm better.
DeleteAs for your recent purchase of MSFT, way to go!! I saw the big jump after the earnings was release so I know you must have fair very well.
Keep up the good work. Best Wishes! AFFJ
Hi AFFJ -- what a great concept, tracking the recent buys from bloggers by month. I like the chart summarizing the buys. Thanks for doing this and sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks FrediS. Glad you like it! The summaries do provide a nice recap of all the buys from the DGI community. Sometimes I get in the mode of simply added buys to my collection without paying attention to what is popular so these summaries are sometimes a bit of a surprise for me as well, especially the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th most popular buys.
