With the recent retreat that we have all seen from the market these past few weeks, our family has continued to added to our portfolio and thus our annual dividends. During the last 7 days, we added to our currently holdings in AFL and ARCP and also became shareholders in two new companies: OXY and IBM. With these two companies, our family's dividend stock portfolio is now comprised of 30 different companies. And what I am most thrilled about, these recent purchases added a total of $76.48 to our annual dividends.
Our family's annual dividends now stands at an estimated $2,406. We are making tremendous progress considering that fact that we just reached our $2K milestone only a month ago! I hope the market takes its time to recover because frankly I'm enjoying these opportunities.

Wow, IBM is the name of the day. Reminds me of TGT back in the spring when seemingly every dividend investor was buying it up. Like the AFL purchase. I have been adding to that name for several months and it is now my largest holding. OXY seems like an interesting call too. You don't really hear that name among the dividend bloggers. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes, with the recent pull back in the stock price, many dividend investors have found IBM attractively price. A 14-yr dividend grower who's pay out is only 25%, I personally can't find too many reasons why IBM is not a good long term play here. :)
DeleteOXY was really beaten down when we bought it, the stock has risen $6.52 since we bought it roughly a week ago. I also like OXY as a long term hold. We would have no problem adding to our holdings if the stock comes back down below our purchase price.
Thanks for stopping by and for your comment. Wishing you nothing but success on your personal journey! AFFJ
Hi FFJ,
ReplyDeleteNice buys! I also bought 5 shares of IBM yesterday. Hesitated on it but I think it's worth risking. I like your purchases of AFL and ARCP too, bought some not too long ago.
Cheers
Glad to hear we are fellow shareholders of IBM. At current prices, I couldn't resist. :) As for AFL and ARCP, those two are popular among dividend investors. We felt the recent dip was a good opportunity to add to our existing holdings.
DeleteBest wishes and continued success on your personal journey! AFFJ
Great buys! In the long term, makes all sense to buy in these times, where prices are down a bit.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree with you more Trader. We hope the market continues to provide us with more opportunities to grab shares at discounted prices! :)
DeleteThanks for your comment. Best Wishes! AFFJ
Great buys. Way to take advantage of the IBM price drop!
ReplyDeleteTawcan - Even though we feel we bought IBM at a decent price, we are prepared to add to our holding if it dips below $160. I have not problems averaging down on dividend growth stocks that I plan to keep long term. :)
DeleteCheers to the IBM price drop! AFFJ
AFFJ,
ReplyDeleteSolid buys. Love those low P/E ratios across the board. :)
I especially like IBM. I recently added to my position as well. Couldn't resist it here at these levels.
Keep up the great work!
Best wishes.
Thanks Jason - I get a lot of my investment ideas from the dividend blogging community so I must say part of the credit should go back to fellow bloggers like yourself. My achievement and successes are due in large part because of the information and support of this great dividend blogging community we are all part of.
DeleteCheers to finding more stocks with low P/E through our sharing of information! :) AFFJ
AFFJ,
ReplyDeleteI like the purchases. I was actually close to buying OXY at one point and it popped before I had transferred funds. I'm now so heavy in energy that I am not looking for another energy position but their metrics looks solid. IBM is top of the list if I buy a tech name right now.
Thanks for sharing your purchases!
Brent - I have been watching OXY for awhile now and couldn't resist when it dropped last week. Glad I did because it has quickly recovered since. In fact, the stock is up roughly $6.50 (or 7%) since I bought just a little over a week ago! :)
DeleteThanks for visiting and for your comment. Best wishes and continued success in your personal journey! AFFJ
Some great value in your buys AFFJ! You got some fantastic deals on this dip. I'm especially jealous of the 11.50 ARCP buy, as that is on my radar for my next buy. I'm holding off waiting to see if we have another dip before I pull the trigger. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks...Although we don't post them on here, I usually have approximately 8-10 open limits orders at any given time. Most of my buys are because the stock price has reach my set limit price. Maybe not a strategy for everyone, but it seems to work for us. :)
DeleteHope the stock market provide you an opportunity to become a fellow shareholder in ARCP, we would be glad to have you on board. ;)
Best Wishes and Continued Success! AFFJ
Good buys. Long ARCP, and OXY's one of my top 3 largest positions. IBM is on my shortlist for my November purchase, just like a lot of the others. Regardless of the issues it's facing, it presents a very compelling valuation, and I doubt it's in any serious danger over the long run.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I agree, Maybe not a good short term buy, but I think over the long run, IBM is a great company to own.
DeleteAs for OXY, been watching it for awhile and was thrilled to have had the opportunity to buy in at such a great price!
Thanks for stopping buy and for your comment. AFFJ
